    About the project

    This project aims to discover forgotten and current local crafts.
    It needs to save from oblivion the memory and the traditions of the populations.
    As in a journey back in the time, children, accompanied by a local tipical character or mascot, will be little explorers in search of their own roots, discovering old forgotten tipical crafts, handicrafts and jobs and comparing them to the current ones.
    Children will walk along the streets, researching crafts, will observe the people, will listen the voices of the past through the stories of their grandparents, will collect informations.
    When possible, children and teachers will try to recreate the circumstances and the conditions to reproduce the products as they were made in the past.
    They will create a book at the end of the journey.
    This project offers a "living history workshop" where teachers and pupils can learn from the past.

    Aims

    1) Encourage children to explore culture, history and traditions.
    2) Encourage children to discover cultural similarities and diversity to promote intercultural dialogue.
    3) Construction and revival of old forgotten crafts of the countries all around Europe. Children will have information about the others country handicrafts.
    4) Develop curiosity about different cultures.
    5) Learn about machine, tools and materials used in the past and/or in the present.
    6) Understand the time and how the enviroments change through the years.
    7) Broaden pupils and teachers' horizons.
    8) Use English as a second language in a real communication context.
    9) Promote geographical knowledge.
    10) Make new friends.

    Work process

    1) Teachers plan to meet each other regularly on the twinspace to decide the details and how to proceed.
    2) Pupils and teachers will introduce themself, will present their school , their country and the location on the map, through videos and photos . Furthermore every team will present the chosen character or mascot.
    3) Researching old or current local handicraft; then take videos and photos.
    4) Every month will be presented a craft, the related activities, through photos, videos, drawers and stories of the grandparents.
    5) When possible, children will play mimicking the craft or they will reproduce an handmade item.

    Expected results

    1) Produce articrafts and books to exchange with the partners and to show to the families.
    2) Understand that the traditions and the history of each country in the world is an heritage.
    3) The big difference is that the will learn about different countries living and being active. They know the arts of different countries.
    4) They will understand the importance of knowing improving a foreign language.
