Active Citizenship and Environmental Awareness Through Formal and Non-formal Education

As education plays quite an important role in achieving environmental and ethical awareness, values and attitudes, skills and behaviour consistent with sustainable development, eight European schools got together to work on a different approach to environmental education. Students will be led to reflect upon the impacts of their activities and those of their families and wider society on our planet so that their concern over unsustainable practices can be raised and their capacity to confront and master change increased. Teachers’ competencies in the area will also be developed and their capacity to intervene in environmental awareness enhanced.
