    MICROPLASTICS AROUND US - CROATIA Secondary School Metkovic

    In cosmetics, “microplastic” refers to all types of tiny plastic particles (smaller than 5mm) that are intentionally added to cosmetics and personal care products. They are often used as emulsifying agents or just as cheap fillers.

    Students have made a simple experiment proving that shower peeling gel usually contains 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞 (non-biogradable microplastic beads) instead of natural ingredients. Accumulative human impacts endanger the ecosystem and its biological diversity. Its nanoparticles also endanger human health which are taken up in blood,lympathic system,liver and gall bladder.

    To reduce this problem,our students participated in the Blue bag activity.It is an initative to return to the sea what it gives to us.Purity,beauty,love... If every sailor collected only one bag of debris per year, sea would say: - Thank you - 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞.

    The students have also made presentation of the sample of the Blue Bag with enclosed posters.

    Our local divers were engaged volunteerely in cleaning of our delta estuary;

    They collected:plastics,cans,ropes,nets,jars,shoes,clothes,wooden objects...

    We were all delighted to think green!!!
