ABOUT THE PROJECT
Taking advantage of the affection that children and adolescents have for animals, General and Special Education classes co-operate, learn, and develop their knowledge and skills on STEAM (Science Technology Art and Maths), Language and English.
AIMS
To sensitize students on the environment
To promote knowledge on nature, different groups of animals (pets, farm, wild) as well as various characteristics of the local fauna
To share experiences and develop a bond between students by feeling not only part of their area but also of the world
To recognize the position of animals in verbal and non verbal forms of expression (art, fables)
To develop intercultural awareness
To promote creativity and 21st century skills
WORK PROCESS
Students get to know each other and create a logo for the project.
They do research on the animals of their area/ country.
They read and share fables on animals (literature, language)
They recreate fables, record audio and compile and multilingual dictionary
They look for paintings on animals and recreate them (art)
They create a jigsaw puzzle with animals for their partner schools using digital tools and play/answer it (ICT)
They form questions and practise coding using simple instructions (unplugged coding like Cody Roby- STEM)
They compile digital gallery with original paintings and their recreations present their work
EXPECTED RESULTS
Students will work with their partners in all steps. Taking into consideration that students with special needs will be involved the delegation of tasks will be according to their skills and the final product will be the result of all pupils' work. It is expected that students will understand the world around them better, appreciate its beauty and learn how they can have an active role to make a change. Democratic processes will emphasise the individual role of partners and stress acceptability and tolerance.
