One of his discoveries, which he made in the era of ancient Greece, was the approximation of π. Arhimedes used a circle with the radius r=1 cm. He used a geometrical approach - π can be estimated by computing the perimeters of circumscribed and inscribed polygons (they already knew how to find the area of polygons in the ancient times).
We tried to simulate the process which Archimedes used to estimate the value of π using Geogebra - we needed a circle, squares, octagons...
