What has our local government done to make our city more sustainable?
| Dear students, we propose that you do your research according to each proposed topic and according to your nationality. If there are several from the same country, you should do this group work. We propose that the deadline for posting the results of your work here is April 16th. Between April 17th and 22nd, we will work in an international group to make a common output to be presented at the meeting with all project participants that will take place between the 26th and 28th of April. |
Find out what your town has done to reduce air pollution.
Go to your city website, learn about the work of your local government and its department dealing with sustainable development, learn about local climate action plans. Maybe you could find a person that would agree to talk to you, on Zoom for example.
Check what changes have been implemented when it comes to:
heating and elimination of low emissions, e.g. grants for the replacement of old solid fuel boilers.
use of alternative energy sources (photovoltaics, heat pumps, etc.)
adaptation of the public transport system, urban transport (which transport dominates, what technologies are used, cycling infrastructure)
green spaces - planting trees and shrubs to absorb CO2, help to reduce flood risk and provide a habitat for wildlife. (think of community gardens, green school playgrounds)
