Our school life! (Nov. 2015 - May 2016)

  • On Tuesday the 17th November we celebrated at school the Athens Polytechnic uprising of 1973. It was a massive demostration of popular rejection of the Greek military dictatorship (widely known as "hounta") of 1967-1974. The uprising started on November 14th, 1973, escalated to an open anti-hounta revolt and ended in bloodshed in the early morning of November 17th, after a series of events starting with a tankcrashing through the gates of the Polytechnic.

Our school celebration was based on a play by a famous Greek writer George Sarri, who has written many children's stories; the play is called "The Birthday" and it refers to the difficult years of the military dictatorship.

Here you can see some photos from the performance, as well as watch a few short extracts from the songs we sang on that day.

On our last schoolday before the Christmas holidays, Wednesday the 23rd of December, we watched a theatrical performance entitled "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"The enchanting adventures of Baron von Munchausen follow him on his journey to save a town from defeat. Being swallowed by a giant sea-monster, a trip to the moon, a dance with Venus and an escape from the Grim Reaper are only some of the improbable adventures.
