Signs of a trajectory of convergence of climate risks with the competition for natural resources are increasing. Climate change will have a negative multiplier effect on the foreseen scarcity of resources to respond to a population increase, the habits of a growing middle class, and large migratory movements. The extent of this convergence becomes even more dramatic if we take into account that a big part of the world population lives in coastal areas where the pressure of climate change will be most visible. Young people and schools are bombarded by a lot of information about how the climate is changing, increasing floods and droughts, announcing natural disasters as if the apocalypses were inexorable. Our lifestyle is in danger, moreover our planet may be at risk, but we are not passive spectators, we should be actors of change.
This project reflects our concern about the consequences of Climate Change and the resulting problems for cultural heritage - one of the less understood and studied aspects of climate change. We consider that one of the best ways to minimize the risks that threaten cultural heritage is to educate/reinforce the feeling of appropriation of these goods by the population and that can start in schools in order to raise awareness among younger generations about the importance of heritage in our culture and identity and the need for its protection and conservation. We must take decisions, with our students, about the future to protect the environment, the landscapes, but also our patrimonial heritage. Above all, this project is a call to action. The questions that support our project are:
-What do we have to think/reflect together in terms of risks concerning Climate Change?
-How to mitigate the impact of natural disasters/Climate Change?
-What does Climate Change mean on the ground?
-What do we have to think about in terms of heritage and Climate Change?
-How to preserve heritage for the next generations?
