Young people are losing their bond with nature, replacing it with communication via smartphones and various social media. Knowledge about nature that they gain in their regular school curriculum mostly does not allow them to experience it with all their senses, which would enhance their learning. Although by reading a science text they can easily find information about trees and flowers, they are not competent to distinguish those plants in their natural environment and understand their application or usefulness.
