    WALK IN OTHER PEOPLE'S SHOES...

IF you had to leave your home, …

    ·     Who / what would you take with you ?

    ·     What would you leave behind?

    ·     What would you like to find in a new place?IF you had to leave your home, …

If I had to leave my home and were forced to go to another place, I would probably take with me my diary and all my photo albums because I have so many memories related to them. I would also take my favourite books because they are very important to me.

Music is my life so I wouldn’t leave my violin behind.

In a new place my hope would be to find a better life so I could start all over again without having my old life haunting me.

If I had to leave my home because of war, I would take with me my family, my dog and my cats although I think cats would have more chances to survive alone. I would also take my MP3 because music helps me to relax and would distract me from the sadness of leaving my home.I would also take clothes, some money, food, medicines and water.

In a new country, I would like to find justice, equality, good opportunities, nice people, a good environment and a nice home.

If I was forced to leave my home, I would take my family with me because they are very important in my life and I can’t live without them. Of course that I would also take food and money.

In a new place I hope to find the value of inclusion because I would like to be accepted and respected. I would love to find people that could help me and teach me their language, their customs and values that I would respect...

If I had  to leave my home, I would take my mom, my sister and my cats with me and I would leave behind my furniture and my old toys. I would also take with me my old photos and my cell phone.

I would bring my family because they mean the world to me and my cats because they need protection and they are like family members. My old photos show old memories and my cell phone can help me make important phone calls.

I would leave behind my furniture because it’s heavy and huge and my old toys because I don’t need them anymore.

My hope would be to find a new place, with good people around and good services (school, hospitals). But the best for me would be having my old home back.

If I was forced to leave my house, I would take my mobile phone and with sadness I would leave my books behind. If I was forced to leave my house, I would like to find a new place to call home.

If I were forced to leave my home, I would bring my dog, clothes, food and money. I’d leave behind all my electronic devices. I´d like to find a peaceful place to stay with my family.

    Pedro Pereira, nº15, 11ºLH

In an extreme situation I´d take some food, clothes to keep me warm and my family, of course. I´d leave behind material things, my house…

In a new place and with the ones I love more, I’d like to find peaceful people, generosity and understanding.

If I had to leave my house by force, I would probably take some clothes, my computer and my mobile phone. Why my computer and my phone? Because my life is there. I store everything in them. In my phone I have my friends, my family, pictures from the last five years. And my computer because I´m addicted to it, I can’t spend one day without turning it on, even if I don’t do anything with it, sometimes I just turn it on and listen to music for some hours.

    Márcia Silva, nº19, 10ºC

Whether you love your life or not, if something happened and ruined your routine, you would miss it. In my case, at first, I would feel lost, without a path. But I would have to struggle and try to solve that problem.

If I had to take something material with me, it would be my computer. I know it sounds materialistic but my computer has all my life, all the pictures I took, it contains all my happy memories.

I would feel very thankful if I found a place to stay.

If I was forced to leave my country, I would take with me useful and practical stuff, not valuable things. I would take food and a lighter so that I could make a fire to warm myself or to give light or cook something. The last thing would be my survival kit and a map. I would put everything in my backpack and let’s go!

When I arrived at a new place, I would take care of myself, get a job, start working and get a home.

If I was forced to leave my home, I would take my cello, some clothes and money. But first of all, I would take my family and friends with me.

I would leave behind my beautiful house and the place which saw me grow.

In a new place, I’d like to find open doors to let me in and help me to find a new life with my family and friends.

If I were forced to leave my home, I wouldn’t care much about material things. Of course it would be difficult to leave all my personal objects behind, but in situations like these it is necessary to define priorities. I’d bring my family, my pet Simba, the money I’d have in my piggy-bank at the moment and some clothes to keep us warm.

My only hope would be the one of finding a safe place to stay. That’s all I ask for.
