HTL Weiz

  • HTBLA Weiz is located in Southern Austria, about a 2 hours drive from Vienna and 40 minutes from Graz. We are a technical high school with about 1000 students, aged between 14 and 19 years old. We employ 113 full time teachers. Pupils leave school with a diploma (Matura) in their specific subject which entitles them either to enter university or to work as an engineer. Our students come mainly from rural areas around Weiz. We have a growing amount of social or racial conflicts in our school. So we have some experience with students with a difficult background. On the other hand we are strongly interested how to understand and integrate these students better in all school activities. Our school course, "robotics" is a fixed part of our Curriculum since 2006. We have a robotic-lab inside School and we take part at RobcupJunior since 2008. We have won several national and international Prices at different robotic-competitions in the past. We teach these students as an extra club in the afternoon, after school. Our robotic-students took part in two Erasmus Plus Projects in the past and fulfilled all the Tasks best. This project is very important for our School, because it gives the students even more opportunities to work with other students from different countries and different cultures. To offer our students and some teachers the Chance to take part in an international Project is an extra Benefit to all members and also a Plus for our School which will attract more students in the future. Mr. Anton Edl is an experienced Project coordinator of 6 EU-funded Projects since 2010.
