Ukrainian Hryvnia Is the Most Beautiful Currency in the World

The Commission for aesthetics of the International Financial Bank came to such conclusion in 2013. 

It is noteworthy that such title the hryvnia is booked for the second time. First Ukrainian currency has been recognized as the most beautiful in 2008, the same year noted that the hryvnia - the most durable banknote in the world. 

Five of the most beautiful of money, according to the Swiss financiers, as follows: ukrainian hryvnia, Australian dollar, euro, Bulgarian lev and U.S. dollar. 

For the first time, hryvnia was mentioned in the birch-bark documents of XII century. The term "ruble" appeared in Novgorod in the XIII century and was a half-hryvnia. The second time the hryvnia was introduced into circulation in Ukraine in 1918. And, finally, the "third coming" of hryvnia took place in 1996, when it became a permanent national currency of Ukraine. 

Sketches of Ukrainian banknotes were performed by graphic artist Basil Lopata. That he illustrated such important books as "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" and "Kobzar" of Taras Shevchenko.
