Gimnazija "Fran Galović" Koprivnica

  • Gimnazija "Fran Galović" Koprivnica is a secondary education institution attended by the students with highest academic achievements in the Koprivnica - Križevci county. The school has 650  students, 78 teachers and staff.  It is located in the center of the county and attracts excellent students from the region thanks to its quality classes, a qualified team of teachers and numerous projects and activities it offers to both students and teachers. Students have the opportunity to choose from three different options: general grammar school, language grammar school and science-mathematics grammar school. They also attend extra-curricular activities and join different school clubs.

Our school building is equipped with modern technology (including two classrooms with desktop computers, a classroom with tablets and both wired and Wi-Fi Internet connection) which motivates students but also presents the challenge for teachers to convey learning materials and incite students' curiosity in an innovative and creative way. Therefore it is necessary to ensure the teachers' continual professional development and the update of knowledge in their respective fields of work, contemporary methodology and ICT skills.

The teachers and students of Gimnazija "Fran Galović" Koprivnica cooperate successfully with educational institutions in the Koprivnica - Križevci county and with other institutions (IX Gimnazija, Craft school Koprivnica, Goethe-Institut, French Embassy, Croatian - American Society, Ruđer Bošković Institute, CERN, Croatian National Centre for External Evaluation of Education, museums, theatres, national teachers' associations, Koprivnica Tourist office).

Students attending our school take part in various competitions on local and national levels, achieving high results. The highest achievers have taken part in international competitions in physics, astrophysics, astronomy and mathematics, including the science Olympics. Our school strives to ensure additional progress for as many students as possible by encouraging teachers' professional development and by keeping track with the latest teaching methods.  Since the school has been a part of european projects Comenius and Erasmus+, we would like to be able to continue to participate in similar projects for both students and teachers in order to reinforce the student-student / student-teacher cooperation as well as the cooperation with similar schools on national and international level.
