IC Picentia Pontecagnano Faiano: our topics

  • Several teachers partecipate to this project. We initially chose particularly one class, 9C, but other classes have gotten involved with enthusiasm to help us develop some topics.

     

    DECEMBER

    ENGLISH TOPIC

    INTRODUCTION - Class: 9C

    THE SCHOOL.

    We are the students of the 9 C of the Picentia Comprehensive Institute of Pontecagnano Faiano. We are 11 girls and 7 boys and are 13 years old. Our school is located near the train station.

    It's very colorful and has a very large garden where there are trees, flowers and two Etruscan tombs! Our secondary school is a few meters away  from the primary school and from the nursing school.

    Our institute has a large atrium where a mobile sculpture hangs. Our school consists of three floors: on the first floor there are the A - B - C sections, on the second there are the D - E - F - G sections and on the third floor there are the laboratories. On the ground there are the library and the gym.

    THE TOWN

    Pontecagnano Faiano is an Italian town located south of Salerno. It has about 26,000 inhabitants. The urban area develops on highway 18 area and continues up to the hamlet of sant'Antonio. Our area basts of having frequented dating back to the capper age or true to the Etruscan civilization. The municipatily is located near our school and has mode avaiable to us an archaelogical museum with great cultural heritage, an archaelogical park with continuausly  incresing exvations and the gothering of more than 9000 tambs, a full of volumes, two squares for the kids and a spots hall.

     

    JANUARY

    ART TOPIC

    ARTEFACTS FOR THE CHINESE NEW YEAR (January 25th, 2020) - Classes: 7B, 8B, 9B, 7C, 8C, 9C

    This period was characterized by the presentation of the school to families of new students during the open day. In that occasion the parents of a Chinese boy prepared some typical foods and the father of another Chinese girl, who is an artist, draw a traditional dragon.

     

    THE OPEN DAY

    CHINESE FOOD

    During this month, the pupils of all the classes participating in the project concentrated on the construction of Chinese lanterns, the creation of auspicious designs for the Year of the Mouse and the representation of peach branches.

    To show how Eastern and Western cultures can merge creating new splendid things, the designs for the Year of the Mouse mixed the image of Mickey Mouse drawn with the zentangle technique.

    The next step will be the competition to create the logo of the project.

    1) YE XIAN, THE CHINESE CINDERELLA  - Class: 7A

    The students worked on the text of the Chinese fairy tale comparing it with that of the Grimm brothers.

    2) CHINESE SHADOW THEATRE - Class: 7A

    (Teacher Rossana Rogato)

    The students wrote a script to stage the fairy tale with the ancient Chinese shadow technique; they created the silhouettes of objects and characters with sticks and cards, projecting them in the dark by means of a torch on a white screen and they read and staged the script.
