Plants that clean indoor air

  • PLANTS THAT CLEAN INDOOR AIR

http://www.ted.com Researcher Kamal Meattle shows how an arrangement of three common houseplants, used in specific spots in a home or office building, can result in measurably cleaner indoor air.

There are plants that filter out common volatile organic compounds (VOCs).We have researched the studies that have been done on this topic and found out that we already have some plants at our school that are on the list. Some of the best air purifying plants are: Aloe vera, English Ivy, Spider plant, Dracaena, Ficus, Peace lily, Chrysanthemum and Snake plant.

As Zagrebački holding is one of the leading companies in Zagreb and one area of their work is to take care of sustainable development and protecting the environment and is also our prominent Croatian suppliers of flowers we kindly asked them for donation.

Zagrebački holding  has been one of our kind donators that donated school the plants students made researches about.

We plan to use those plants as a natural way of removing toxic agents so we decided to put these plants in our classroom. It is a sustainable activity. We want to have an eco-classroom at school cleaned with eco cleaning agents and with air purifying plants. After several months we plan to measure VOC gases in that classroom again and compare the results.

Our students have also made information cards about plants for the Eco corner we will create next school year.
