SCENE 3

Macbeth and Banquo are walking in the street.They pass by three prostitutes.

One of them calls out to Macbeth.

First prostitue: Good evening honey! Hey, I'm talking to you! Yes, you, you Macbeth!

Macbeth: How do you know my name?

First prostitute: How could we not know it?

Second prostitute: The famous Macbeth is known by the most important people.

Third prostitute : His destiny is known too.

Macbeth: I don't believe you. (To Banquo) Come on, let’s go, they’re crazy. They’re only saying that so we stop and they can make advances on us.

Banquo: Are you sure? But they know your name. Maybe you should listen to them.

Macbeth :Do you think so?

Banquo: There’s nothing to lose, is there?

Macbeth(to prostitutes): So you know my destiny? What is in store for me then? I’d like to know. What exactly do you know Mrs “Know-it-all”?

First prostitute: You will become a famous man.

Second prostitute: I promise you glory.

Third prostitute: You will have power.

Macbeth : Ah yes, that’s too is, it´s so vague !

First prostitute: Duncan will recognise your talent as a manager.

Second prostitute: Tomorrow, he will announce you promotion.

Third prostitute: And the best is yet to come.

Macbeth    : What do you mean ?

Third prostitute: (She laughed) What do you think?

First prostitute: You will take his place : you will become the CEO of the company.

Second prostitute: Businessmen from other companies will respect you.

Third prostitute: Women will fall at your feet.

Macbeth : Of course, and then I will be the president of the Republic, right ? Why not ?

Banquo : And what about me ? nothing ? What will my future be ? Hey ! Answer me !

(The three women go away)

Macbeth : They are crazy, they‘re talking rubbish. Come on, let’s go. We shouldn’t stay here.
