WHO ARE WE?

  • The Instituto Salesiano Don Bosco and Leconte de Lisle senior high School are on their way for a new Maths project!

    LECONTE DE LISLE HIGH SCHOOL

Hey guys, here's a little presentation of our school and our class.

So, Leconte de Lisle high school's named after a XIXth century french moreover reunionese poet (which is very common in general to name a school after someone famous) and mostly provides a more literature and/or  Science focused teaching although all four of the sections that exist in a 'general' school are gathered in one facility. We have Science (S), Literature (L), Economy (ES) and Management-Administration (STMG). We're prepared on a three years time span to pass our exams (which our lives pretty much depends on. If you don't have it then...well, you're not screwed but almost.).

     Leconte de Lisle (1818-1894)

That being said, the school life here is amazing, we have shows and flashmobs almost every months like during Halloween where treats were sold or last tuesday on the national day against violence done to women. We're soon gonna have a gig (concert) in celebration of the Téléthon (deseases charity).

When I say that the school mostly provides a more literature focused education, it's actually because we have two buildings out of three dedicated to arts, foreign language teaching, and literature itself (in english, german or french). We have future movie directors, painters and singers in the school ;). They release projects like short films for the last Sarlat's Movie Festival ( the cinema class went to France to introduce their own short films to the festival this November.), the Art class exhibits their creations during the Art Day (wich usually happens in May). As for the musicians in the school, we have small gigs goin' on all year round and some of them can't go to school without their guitars.

OK, back to the (not so) formal things: Our Class

We're doing Maths in english and it's pretty fun. We get to exchange with overseas students like you guys and share experiences with people outside of our original sections (for instance I'm in L and most of the people in the class are in S). Our teacher Ms. Levesque's gonna be posting the most I guess and others are gonna post their little things on Architecture and maths and Reunion Island and this and that (goin' a little overboard right there. Sorry. ;) ) . Hope you guys are excited!

Ps: We might upload a High School tour soon.

AND HERE IT IS, DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL

Don Bosco's Institute is situated in the heart of Verona and it is really close to all the main attractions of our town ( Arena, Juliet's balcony, Roman Theatre..)

    Who was Giovanni Bosco?

    (Giovanni Bosco 1815-1888)

He, popularly known as Don Bosco, was an Italian Chatolic priest , educator and writer of the 19th century. While working in Turin, where the population suffered many of the effects of industrialization and urbanization, he dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children and other disadvantaged youth.

Our school is structured according to three fields of studying: "Liceo Classico" in which we can study ancient Greek and Latin and specifically more humanities insights, "Liceo Scientifico" that concerns scientific subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, "ITC" in which they study a lot of commercial subjects as Economy. Each one takes five years of education.

The school offers a lot of amzing initiatives as exchanges in Germany, Poland, Australia...and  for several years our school has seen our students participate in the project "Students at the UN."  It is a simulation reproduces in full the UN structure and engages students to study politics, geography, economy of the country to be represented, as well as to analyze its social, legal, and the relationships with other states the world.

Of course we are really excited to partecipate with you to this project as well!!

And this is a short introduction to our school just for you!
