Christmas Truce at SP9 Dzierżoniów in Poland

  • We started our work looking for information about Christmas Truce 1914 - we watched documentaries and historical films: "War Horse":

    and "Merry Christmas":

We found out a lot and we made some drawings after watching "War Horse" as this film is really moving and educational.

We loved making cards for partner schools:

We loved receiving cards from you as well. THANK YOU!

We disccussed while we were voting for the best logo. Even though our favourite didn't win, we also voted for the winning one!

In November we celebrated the anniversary of the end of World War One and Independence Day in Poland:

We had English lessons about Christmas Truce. One of them was watched by our head teacher.

We talked about ww1, we had a listening task with a part of "Merry Christmas" film

    and we wrote about ww1:

We learned Christmas carols from your videos:

And admired you singing and speaking English:

Before Christmas we performed Nativity Play and sang Polish Christmas carols:

In December we made two displays about our project:

Wiktoria made a presentation for you about Christmas traditions in Poland:

We studied history of ww1 and we made some presentations.

    Students reflections about "Chriatmas Truce":
I liked the project very much. Thanks to the films we watched ("War horse" and "Merry Christmas") I realized how life was difficult in those days. I found out a lot of interesting facts. I saw how trenches were built and I saw how soldiers lived and what weapons they used during World War One."    Mela
