Let's start with a funny video..
An algorithm is a list of rules to follow in order to solve a problem.
Computer algorithms can appear complex, but the underlying concept is approachable for both adults and kids. We can define an algorithm by writing out the step-by-step instructions, thinking about things in terms of discrete steps
Algorithms need to have their steps in the right order. Think about an algorithm for getting dressed in the morning. What if you put on your coat before your jumper? Your jumper would be on top of your coat and that would be silly! When you write an algorithm the order of the instructions is very important.
For example, our algorithm for a child's morning routine could be the following:
- Wake up and turn off alarm
- Get dressed
- Brush teeth
- Eat breakfast
- Go to school
HOW CAN YOU TEACH HOW TO MAKE CHOLATE BREAD TO A ROBOT
