Project duration: 24 months
Activities for each project assignment
1st project assignment: Introductory meeting, partner school gathering, introduction, presentation, implementation of questionnaires, and project logo design
First Meeting Tool suggested - Twinspace Live Meeting (negotiate with partners, launch)
The first project assignment will involve getting to know each other and presenting partner schools and implementing an initial questionnaire compiled by us. With the initial questionnaire we want to find out where the students involved in the project are, as well as some basic information about where they come from and the castles that are nearby. We want to find out which historical periods are of interest to the students to study, and accordingly we will decide which periods we will deal with in the continuation of the project. After the introductory meeting and initial examinations, students will create a project logo and a logo will be selected among the student papers of all partner schools. Through the TwinSpace forum, partners will share ideas on how to accomplish this task. Students will first be briefly introduced to the concept of a logo and its basic properties. The goal of the logo is to be simple, easy to remember and attractive. After all partner schools have published their work, students will choose which logo will represent the project below. Selection can be done, for example, in the Padlet tool.
Option number 1. For the creation of the logo of the eTwinning project, students can use any kind of art technique (temps, watercolors, wooden crayons, pastels, collage…). Papers should be scanned and published on a shared space on Twinspace.
Option number 2. Students can create a project logo using Web 2.0 tools eg Online Logo Maker or AWW Board 2.0 online together.
2. project assignment Meet the castles
The second project assignment will be to produce a video / film / presentation where students represent a castle from their cultural heritage. Multimedia content should be published in a shared space on Twinspace. Each castle should be accompanied by an explanation of what area it belongs to, how old it is and what its importance is for the area in which it is located. An important note of this project assignment is to present the specifics of the architecture from a historical and construction point of view. Students will participate in chat meet getting to know and socializing students through the chat room. Students will create an interactive map of Europe that offers multimedia information on the beautiful castles and palaces located in their countries.
3. project assignment Fieldwork
Project managers will organize fieldwork for students participating in the project. The students will use the planned fieldwork to view the castle and other interesting buildings, make the necessary sketches and carry out an approximate measurement. The fieldwork implementation plan will be developed by the project managers together. Students will be given specific tasks that they will need to complete during fieldwork. The cost of performance and the fieldwork plan will be integrated into the school curriculum. After the fieldwork, students will complete a performance and satisfaction survey. The completed tasks and the results of the survey should be published in a common space on Twinspace.
4. project assignment Creating a castle
The fourth project task is the creation of a castle model, that is, the correlation of the acquired contents in mathematics teaching with the contents studied in technical culture, geography, history and visual culture. Students will apply the knowledge of geometric bodies productively in the design of models of famous Croatian castles, churches, cathedrals, monasteries and other buildings as significant parts of Croatian heritage.
Students can keep a vlog about the implementation of a project assignment, post snapshots of the implementation, and final performance of the assignment.
5. project assignment Story or a legend - story or legend
Each castle has its own story or legend that accompanies it. The task for students is to design a story or legend based on a story or legend related to a castle that is close to you, translate it into English, and published several works in a joint digital book.
6. project assignment Artworks
According to the template of the story, students make artworks using the black ink technique, and then we collect all works and publish the works in a joint digital book.
7. project assignment Videochat - we will have to organize a video chat of students.
8. project assignment Exhibition of works open to the public
The project assignment will include an exhibition of works by both our own models and those of partner schools, as well as fine art works, sketches and everything that involved participation in the project. The aim is to familiarize the public with the results of the collaboration, to answer questions related to the project, and to produce artworks and multimedia content about the castles from the project. Students will display the castles with various visual techniques, and show the material heritage with the artwork. Each school participating in the project will organize an exhibition at their school and publish pictures and video from the exhibition on the project pages. The works will be displayed at an art exhibition at the school and digitally shared with project partners. Partner schools will be able to comment on the work of students from other schools and select the winner.
9. project assignment Evaluation and dissemination of the project
To commemorate the project, students will create a poster in the Piktochart Web 2.0 tool, which will share pictures of all project activities. Students will eventually complete online project evaluation questionnaires in Survey Monkey. The whole project will be disseminated through the project page, the school website, through the radio broadcasts of the national radio station, on the assets of the partner school teachers, at the local, county or national level through the expert assemblies of the project participants' teachers.
