The Life Scales Project will last from september 2019 to June 2020
These are the outlines of this project :
Don't hesitate to click on each step to reach the dedicated page !
Step 1 (Nov 2019) :
building the collaborative partner presentation
Students will have to ask question to their partners about their daily life : school, city, region, country and habits.
Then students build their partner presentation using collected data (answers & photos or videos).
All photos or videos must be copyrignt free !!!
Step 2 (Dec 2019) :
making the different logos « life scales » book
all students will be organized in 8 european TEAMS corresponding to the 8 studied levels.
- atoms,
- molecules,
- virus,
- cells (bacteria, algae, protozoan, yeast, fungi, animal or plant cell…)
- living organisms (any plant, tree or animal)
- oustansting earth reliefs (any mountain, volcano or deep sea trench)
- celestial bodies (planet, star, comet or asteroid ; in or out our solar system !)
- galaxies, solar systems, nebulae...
All photos or videos must be copyrignt free !!!
Step 3 (Jan 2019) :
making the collective « life scales » numeric book
Every group of student belonging to each team will have to find and describe 1 example of atom, molecule, virus, cell etc. (depending on the group).
So that there will be as many examples in each team than the number of involved countries !
Step 4 (Jan 2020) :
building the object database
Students will have to collect and chose daily objects (coins, toothbrush, ballpoint pen, different kind of tools, different types of balls, fruits, or any kind of well known toys…).
Then they will have to take a picture of each of them and to measure it.
All photos or videos must be copyrignt free !!!
Step 5 (Feb 2020) :
making comparisons !
For this step, each groups of students will be free to choose 2 examples belonging to 2 organisation levels they want in the Life scales book.
Then, will have to compare each other using the daily objects / monuments databe.
It could give such a result :
« to compare the size of a picornavirus to the one of a Clostridium tetani (bacterium) is like comparing a basketball to a lighthouse (Tower of Hercules) »
Step 6 (May / June 2020) :
building a collaborative game !
Students will let their imagination run free !!!
It could be a board game or a card game made from all Step 2, 3 & 4 collected data.
It also can be inspired from the different 2 KAHOOT quizzes.
2 collaborative Quizzes will be performed during the project !!!
