Througout the project, we would like all of us to communicate in an easy way. That is why we have decided to use messaging apps (a.k.a. "Social messaging" or "chat applications"). BUT we don't want to use things like Facebook, Instagram, etc, for security and privacy reason.
That is why we have created our own communication server (a "XMPP server"): etwinning.ovh. That means that we can donwload a client (= an app) on our phone (Pix-Art Messenger on Android, ChatSecure Messenger on iOS) or on our computer (http://etwinning.ovh), create a FREE and SECURE account on our server and send messages, images, files to each other.
Why is free and secure? Because this is OUR server. The Paul Gauguin middle school bought it! So it really belongs to us! That means that all accounts, all messages, all files are saved there, and everything will be removed at the end of the project.
You however have to keep in mind that this is server was set up to communicate for this project. You can obviously talk about whatever you want with others in order to know them better, discover their culture, their habits. But you need to respect each other. You also need to respect the law, so don't share illegal stuff. Also, remember that in each group room that will be created, teachers will be moderators, so they'll be able to read waht you write. And Mr Drouet, the French teacher, being the admin of this server, he can have access to anything if needed (even if he doesn't plan to watch over everything!).
