The primary school Nikola Tesla is located in the western part of Zagreb. The premises of the school occupy an area of 5150 m2 whereas the school yard occupies an area of about 40000 m2 including sport courts and fields and the garden.
The total number of employees is 68, 49 of which are teachers. The teachers are divided into two groups:
- First group – teachers who teach 1st to 4th grade (students 6-9 years old)
- Second group – teachers who teach 5th to 8th grade (students 11-14 years old)
The total number of students in the school year 2018/19 was 564 (grades 1st to 8th: 6-14 years old). All the students attend school in the morning shift. Students are also given the possibility of Model C education which includes Macedonian language and culture.
The logo of our school was created by one of our students. His work was chosen among many creative ideas which entered the Tesla Logo contest. We also organized a contest for the school anthem. It was won by a 4th grade student who wrote the lyrics, and the music was composed by one of our teachers. The children’s choir performance of the anthem was recorded in a studio in Đurđevac in 2016.

Our school has a long tradition of participation in numerous projects, festivals and competitions where both students and teachers have won many awards and acknowledgments. The school was the founder of the first radio internet called Radio 5+, and has participated in numerous international projects and competitions like GLOBE, TIME, European School Network and Hour of Code, the international Erasmus + research NAOS Professional Capacity Dealing with Diversity. National projects include the Development of the School Curriculum and School Volunteers.

In 2013 we joined the eTwinning platform and started cooperating with other schools in Coratia and Europe on various projects, which led to the school being awarded the eTwinning School Label. Our teachers have received several National Quality labels and European Quality labels for different projects on eTwinning.
The long-term vision of our school is to create a pleasant, encouraging and interactive working environment in which students can obtain knowledge and skills necessary for living in the 21st century. Special attention is paid to the practical use of STEM knowledge and skills, critical thinking, problem solving and soft skills. We are of the opinion that participation in European mobilitiy activities and courses give our teachers the opportunity to gain new knowledge, methods and tools which are necessary for the modernisation of our teaching process.
So far we have participated in 2 Erasmus + KA1 projects, Povećajmo UM – unutarnju motivaciju was completed in 2015, and its goal was to increase the students’ inner motivation for learning and prevent early school leaving.
Our second project was TESLA: Teachers Engaging Students in a Learning Adventure. It was aimed at developing entrepreneurship and soft skills of our students.
