The Italian teachers and students arrived in Ylitornio on Wednesday the 27th of March and our first meeting took place the day after, on Thursday. We made a welcoming alley outside at the school yard and welcomed our guests to our school.

During our one hour meeting both project partners introduced their schools briefly and shared some details on how we use iPads in education. Oskari Siponen, the chairman of our student board, introduced the board and asked participants to follow them on social media where photos of the activities and teamwork would be published. 

We learned eg. that ICS Ungaretti is a very international Apple Distinguished School and like us, they use very much technology in teaching and learning. We also learned that some subjects in ICS Ungaretti are taught in English. The focus of the first meeting was on ice breaking activities Hanna Viippola and Mirjami Hyttinen had planned. The goal of the activities was to to learn some names and something about each other.

Our guests thanked us for welcoming them to Ylitornio and gave our school ten mBot STEAM  education robots, which was a wonderful gift. Now our students have better possibilities for studying coding.
