  • ETWINNING PROJECT SPAIN- IRELAND 2019

PROJECT TITLE: WHO ARE YOU? / ¿QUIÉN ERES?

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a basic project created to begin a relationship between both schools (Sant Carles de La Ràpita, Tarragona (Spain) and Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore (Ireland). The students will exchange some written messages and photos to get to know each other. Both schools will be using foreign languages, English and Spanish. Then, as a final product we’ll create an online magazine with the messages and photos of the students and the schools. The main goal for us, thus, is to set the beginning of our schools relationship. Then, we’ll be able to develop more complex and longer projects. At the same time, in the future, we’ll provide our students with the chance to get further and deeper knowledge about culture awareness.

    OBJECTIVES:

    1.    Use the foreign Language to communicate and get in touch with students from the other culture/country to learn about general differences in lifestyles.

    2.    Improve writing skills by means of writing their personal profiles and reading the others’.

    3.  Basic use of ICT.

    4.  Establish a relationship between both schools in order to develop it further in by means of future projects.

    TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS:

    Gracia M Gimeno Vidal

    22 students aged 14-15

Institut Els Alfacs, Sant Carles de La Ràpita (Tarragona), Spain

    Samia Robbins

    22 students aged 13-14

    -Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore, Ireland

    WORK PROCESS AND TIMELINE:

We’ll use 1 hour a week in our Foreign Languages subjects (English, Spanish). The tasks and responsibilities will be shared by both countries equally. When the students work individually, they’ll use the foreign language they’re studying to write their messages. However, they'll use their own mother tongue to read the other schools messages. Thus, when the students will be working with in pairs with the other school they’ll use both languages.

Our project will take 3 weeks: from 1st April (Easter Holidays 12th-22nd/28th) to 3rd May.

    STEP 1: INTRODUCTION.

     1st -7th April

    1. Individually, in class or as homework

    In the forum

They write a short introduction about them and add photos or avatars in their Twinspace profiles (we’ll give them a model to follow with the points to include, name, age, interests, …depending on students’ level of language they can be more or less sophisticated texts)

    2. Individually, in class or as homework

    In the forum

They’ll read the posts in the forum and reply to at least 2 other students from the other school.

They will choose a partner to work with for the rest of the project picking from these 2 students. (If they find it too difficult to find an International pair to work with, we can always create pairs using random choice).

    STEP 2: WORK TOGETHER.

     8th- 12th April

    1. International groups/pairs

    Google Drive /Padlet

They’ll redo their texts adding more photos if needed and share them in a google drive /Padlet  document (or using the chat in our Twinspace) where they decide the way the final product, the magazine, will look like.

(If they hadn’t finished, they could finish it during Easter holidays)

They use the chat to talk about it with the students from their school and the students from the other one.

    29th April-3rd May

    2. Individually

    At home

They fill in a Google form about the project

The families will have a short form to fill in too.

The teachers will publish the magazine/book using issuu.com

It will also be published in the school websites (if it’s possible).
