3D DESIGN CONTEST

  • HOW TO DESIGN A "USB HOLDER" WITH A 3D PRINTER

We have started to create our first original design drawing in three dimensions with a program called FreeCAD, which is an open source software useful in different platforms. After making a new object, you can save in .STL format in order to print it in a 3D printer like the Prusa Hephestos or the Ultimaker.

Previously to start printing, you need to visualise the piece in a slicing software like CURA which opens the .stl file to convert it in a .GCode file ready to be printed.

In this case, it is very important to take care doing the holes for the USB ( minimum 13 x 5 mm) and for the SD cards (minimum 3 x 25 mm)

These are different examples of the objects made by the spanish students, and some of them have also the posibility to store SD cards.

Which of them do you prefer?
