    LEMON GİRL

    Once upon a time there was a king who was fair and very lovable towards his people. He always gave the poor food and clothes... And once in a year he would pour honey and oil from the fountain that is in front of the castle and accept his people's prayers. At a time like this an old lady came to the fountain. She put some oil to her broken pot from the fountain. While the old lady was going home, the naughty prince saw him and raised his bow, shot the old lady's pot and broke it. Poor lady couldn't understand why the prince did that so she looked up to the prince and asked: "Hey son, what have I done to you that you broke my pot? I pray that you'll fall in love with the Lemon Girl and never ever see her!" After that day, the prince couldn't stop to think about the Lemon Girl and who she was that he couldn't even fall asleep! His father was worrying for his son so he decided to ask him once. The prince said that he was curious about the Lemon Girl and if the King lets him, he would like to search for her. The king gave him the permission so the prince left the castle in order to search for the Lemon Girl...

     

    BALD BOY AND MAGİC SEAL

    One day, Bald Boy was walking back from the marketplace after selling his crops to the people of the neighbouring village. He had made three gold coins that day and was very pleased with himself because now his mother would be able to buy food and clothing to last through the long winter. Suddenly Bald Boy came across a group of men who were teasing a cat with a long stick. The cat looked very scared and was unable to escape. Bald Boy walked up to the men and said in a kindly voice: ‘Please stop teasing that poor cat. If you stop, I will give you a gold coin...’

     

    RUZGAROGLU

    Once upon a time,there was a man called Rüzgaroglu,who listens much and talks less. He was married and had 2 child. His 5 years old son called Nuryüz and 4 years old daughter called Gülyüz. His family was so rich and happy. Because of he loves hunting, he was spending all the days by hunting in the forest. He was riding his horse, taking his two dogs beside him and hung his rifle to his shoulder, and going to the forest every morning. One day, he went to hunting to the forest, as every morning. But he couldn’t find something to hunt. He was seated near to a water to relax a bit and to water his horse. At that moment a deer appeared suddenly in the eyes of Rüzgaroglu. Deer’s skin was shining brightly under the sun, the vividness of the dark eyes was visible from afar. He was gazing at the deer without blinking his eyes, and deer was looking at him too without making any move...

     

    THE FISH-FAIRY

    There was once a fisherman of the name of Mahomet, who made a living by catching fish and selling them. One day, being seriously ill and having no hope of recovery, he requested that, after his death, his wife should never reveal to their son that their livelihood had been derived from the sale of fish. The fisherman died; and time passed away until the son reached an age when he should begin to think about an occupation. He tried many things, but in none did he succeed. Soon afterwards his mother also died, and the boy found himself alone in the world and destitute, without food or money. One day he ascended to the lumber-room of the house, hoping to find there something he might be able to sell. During his search he discovered his father’s old fishing-net. It happened one day that he caught a fish so fine that it grieved him either to sell it or to eat it. So he took it home, dug a well, and put the fish therein. He went supperless to bed, and being hungry he got up early next morning to catch more fish.When he came home in the evening we may imagine his astonishment at finding that his house had been swept and put in order during his absence...

     

    THE EVER SO LONG WOOL STRING

    Once upon a time, there was an old woman who lived in a mountain village in Turkey. The old woman had three daughters. Their names were Yersen, Yolsen and Yonsen. The family were poor and would spend every day weaving big red kilims out of sheep’s wool so that they might raise money to feed and clothe themselves. One day, the three sisters were bored of their sleepy little village where nothing exciting ever happened. They were determined to go out into the wonderful, wide world and start new lives and enjoy any adventures that might come their way. The sisters found their old mother at the weaving frame and put their arms around her to say goodbye. Their mother hugged them firmly and said: ‘My daughters, if you must go then go, but there is one thing that you must do for me before you leave this village.’ The mother pulled out three big yarns of wool string and presented one to each of her daughters in turn. ‘I will attach the ends of these yarns onto your feet,’ said their mother, ‘and I will be checking if the wool strings are moving. If they are moving, this means that you are out exploring the world...

     

    SILVER EYED GIANT

    Once upon a time, Silver Eyed Giant lived in the Kaf mountain.The Silver Eyed Giant is not as treacherous and cruel as any other giants. On the contrary, he had a heart like gold. He thought good for everyone and he helped. The Yellow Giant, the country’s sovereign, was a tyrant. He punished even the smallest crimes with death. His most favorite words was “kill it, cut it off”. Silver eyed giant’s only sister was Nazlı Çiçek. She worked as a servant in the palace of the Yellow Giant. The silver eyed giant was afraid something bad happened to his sister. One day, while Nazlı Çiçek was taking meal to Yellow Giant, she lost balance and fell to the place. Plates, glasses, dishes, scattered around. Yellow Giant looked with disgusted and said: -Get this clumsy girl. Throw her down the cliff...

     

    BALD BOY AND THE SQUIRREL

    One upon a time, in a small village in Turkey, there lived a mother and her loyal son. The son was known by all as Bald Boy because even though he was still quite young he had no hair on his head at all.Bald Boy and his mother were very poor indeed and so each day Bald Boy would take up his basket and venture out into the woods in search of food.‘Good luck, my son,’ the old woman would call out as Bald Boy waved goodbye and set out on his daily journey. One day, as he was searching the forest floor for the juicy mushrooms that could often be found growing in the shadows of the tall trees, Bald Boy was sure that he could hear a young girl crying. When he looked up he noticed a little squirrel sitting on the branch of the tree above his head. The squirrel was crying inconsolably and so Bald Boy reached out to comfort the little creature. He took the squirrel in his arms and stroked her and sang to her and assured her that everything was going to be okay.When at last the squirrel stopped crying, the two friends got to talking and Bald Boy explained how he lived with his mother and how they were very poor...
