Alfred Bernhard Nobel (21 October 1833 – 10 December 1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, inventor, businessman, and philanthropist.
Known for inventing dynamite. Nobel held 355 different patents, dynamite being the most famous.

The Nobel Prize was first awarded in 1901. Swedish and Norwegian institutions give it to people for their work in Literature, Chemistry, Peace, Medicine and Physics. Every year the prize ceremonies are held in Stockholm. The Peace prize ceremony is held in Oslo.
