    PLANNING FOR ETWINNING: Knowing each other

     

    January: Introducing our schools

     

    POSSIBLE Activities in class

    1. Each school prepares 3 flashcards of the 3 places by asking children to draw them with black pencil and write the name of the place in mother tongue

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    1. Making a short video in MOTHER TONGUE in which children show and name the 3 places instead of using photos. Children love seeing  other children speaking in their own language (This is our school- This is our garden- This is our classroom). We should use the same structures in order to be able to compare languages (Silvana’s class will do it in English)

     

    1. Posting the flashcards in the twinspace- The partners download them, children colour them and make a poster for the class in order to observe and compare the 4 schools and make the activity real for the young age. In this way we can make a sort of paper Glossary too and play games (memory, what’s missing….)

     

     

     

     

    We post the videos in the twinspace and Silvana joins them in one video only that will represent the glossary.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    FEBRUARY:  FOCUSING ON A CLASS ACTIVITY

    As with Petra in November we had thought to teach children colours in our languages, an idea could be to invent or use an existing rhyme about the days of the week and colours in our language and teach it to our partners

    • Creating a poster about a colours rhyme with the words written on it and video record children telling the rhyme

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    • Class survey with the tool we want: My favourite colour is….

     

    • Post the posters and the video in the twinspace and Silvana will put all the videos in one.
    • Each partner will create flashcards related to the 7 colours. The teacher will write the name of the colours in the 3 languages by looking at the poster uploaded in the twinspace.  Children will try to remember the names of some colours in 2 foreign languages.

     

     

     

     

     

    • Sharing the results of the survey in the twinspace

     

    MARCH: Focusing on the dining room

    • Sharing a video-recipe of a snack not to be cooked focusing on ingredients in mother tongue- (Italian school could make: bread and Nutella –bread/butter and sugar/ bread and tomato
    • Taking a photo of the final product and make a jigsaw online

     

     

     

    • Prepare flashcards with photos of the ingredients and of the final snack + names in mother tongue

     

    • Survey: My favourite food is with the tool we like

     

    • Posting the jigsaw in the twinspace so that the partners can discover and try to guess the snack and ingredients by solving the jigsaw
    • Posting the video-recipes that Silvana will join them in a video
    • Making one of the snacks from the partners, taking pictures and posting them in the twinspace – sharing opinions in the twinspace diary

     

     

    • Post the flashcards in the twinspace- partners will download them for the glossary

    APRIL-MAY: FOCUSING ON THE GARDEN

    • Video recording an easy  game in the garden
    • Write down instructions to play it (in English) but leave some words in mother tongue (for example: if we choose a game with numbers 1 to 5 or with animals we leave these words in mother tongue).  
    • Making flashcards of the key words of the game in mother tongue (it would be wonderful to choose a game with the same language items- numbers or animals or…..)

     

     

     

    • Possible survey: my favourite pet/animal

     

     

    • Posting the video in the twinspace –Silvana will join them in one only
    • Each school plays the game of the partners and takes a video that will be posted too in the twinspace

     

     

     

    • Downloading the flashcards from the partners for the glossary.

    ENDING THE PROJECT:

     

    WE COULD SEND BY POST SOME SEEDS OR A SMALL PLANT  to be planted in the partner schools as a memory of the project.
