MAP - Medically Assisted Procreation: Key questions

  • For this project as an innovative teaching method we choose  Collaborative Problem Based Learning. That means that we will research our tasks and present results through student collaboration.

The problem we noticed in our countries as well as other West European countries is demographic one.

    Definition of the problem:

Demographic situation in a lot of European countries is worrying. Europe is getting old when it comes to its inhabitants. The birth rates declines over past 50 years and it seems that it is getting worse on annual level - infertility in Europe is incrising by 8-9 % annually. Today Europe is producing only 1.6 children per women. Economical crisis, unemployment and stress of modern life contribute a lot to this situation. There is a lot of talks in many European governments about demography and taking measures to increase the rate of newborns. What happened with the fertility? Why are pregnancy rates so low and have not increased significantly in the last decades?

We can start our research with driving question:

Can MAP make a change in European demography in the future?

A talk with an expert - primarius Boris Ujević gave us answers on our key questions
