Cipro - Πάφος

  • Cipro/ Cyprus is a small island on the northeast side of the Mediterranean sea. From July 1974, the  Turkish invasion in the island, our country has been divided and about the 37% of our land is occupied by Turkish. From then Greek Cypriot live in the south side and Turkish Cypriot in the north side.  Greek language is spoken on the south side of the island, which is the lecal/ recognised state.

    Polis Chrysochous is a small seaside town on the west side of the island. There are about 3000 inhabitants. There are also many immigrants and refugees coming from various countries around the world.There are various archeological sites and a unique natural beauty. It is known as the place where Aphrodite/ Venus, the goddess of beauty, was coming here for her bath. It is a famous touristic area during summer.

    Our school, Dimotiko Polis Chrysochous is the biggest in the area with about 350 students, among them many immigrants and refugees. Students from 20 small villages, around Polis Chrysochous, are studying in this school.
