Tasks of the field trips: Finland

  • Tasks of the field trip: Finland

    Biology:

The goal was to learn to identify certain plants that grow in a bog. Students used an app called “Seppo-peli”. There was a picture of a plant and a short text about the plant in each task. After finding the plant, students took a picture of it and then sent the picture to the teacher as their answer to the task. The tasks were planned by our headmaster and biology teacher.

    Mathematics:

The assignment was to measure the height of a tree. Two students in each team were asked to go and stand next to a tree, one on the left and the other on the right. The third member of the team was asked to take a photo of the tree and the students with his or her cell phone. During the next mathematics lesson they used an app called Image Meter to measure the height of the tree in the picture.

    Mother Tongue and Literature:

During the field trip students needed focus on making observations with 5 senses. After the trip they wrote about the trip describing observations they had made. In their narration they answered questions like: What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you smell? What do you taste?
