MODULE 2 MY EUROPE, YOUR EUROPE-OUR EUROPE

  • European values and ideas guaranteeing safety and equal treatment for all

United in Diversity has been European Union's motto since 2000. It refers to its values, its cultural and humanistic heritage. If we are to think about how we can safeguard it, we should perhaps think about what are the dangers of embracing "too much diversity or too much unity". The most important pillar of the EU in this sense is its peoples, all of us who although still retaining our national identity are determined to forge a common destiny. Jack Lang  (Austrian politician) described it very well when he said that ‘diversity is not division (...), difference is not indifference, union is not uniformity.’
