Experiments with water

  •

Let's add the experiments of December.

    POLAND - OLSZTYN

In this week we made an experiment with oil, water, food coloring and effervencent tablet, calcium for example. We took oil and water with food coloring and then we added a few tablets.

Sink or float to water and salted water

Do these materials sink or float to water ? What does it happen to salted water?

First we made assumptions, wrote them in a paper and then did the experiment.

We drew in a table what happened

What did happen when we throw the above materials to salted water?

    experiment with water:)

In this week we made an experiment with water and oil. We added food coloring to the oil and later we added this oil to the water.

    We made really beautiful coloring:)

    OUR SECOND EXPERIMENT WITH WATER

    << SOLUBILITY >>

    KOMOTINI - GREECE

    Water soluble & insoluble materials

This week we learned which materials dissolve in water and which not?

First we made assumptions and wrote them in a paper.

Then we added each material in water and stirred with a spoon.

    Finally we wrote our conclusions.

    Learning about water cycle

These simple science experiment help demonstrate  the water cycle.

    Sensory  bottles

if you want to do this experiments, you will need: water, oil and food colouring.

You should add to the bottle oil, water and food coloring. What will happen? Try it :)

WATER EXPERIMENT 1- FLOAT TO WATER OR SINK?

LITHUANIA (Šiaulių lopšelis-darželis "Coliukė", pedagogė Laura Bajoriūnė)

    "Bubbling water"

The last our experiments with water. This week we did experiment with water, paints, oil and effervescent tablets. In first we pour the oil in the water, then we pour the oil and the last the add in the water effervescent tablets. The water is bubbling. You must to see it.

In Lithuania is snowing, so we decided to take some snow inside. Each children had a plastic cup with 5 levels. We put in snow into the cups. Next day we saw that snow are melted, but in the cup is water. We done a decision - if we put a lot snow in the cup, we will have a lot water and vice versa. Each children could to mark their water level in a big cup on the paper.

This week we did 2 experiments with water.

    "The fire in the glass"

    1. You will need dish, colored water, a piece of playdough, one match and glass.

    2. You have to stick the palydough in the middle on the dish. Let's insert a match in to the playdough. Pour a little bit water to the dish.

    3. Now it's time to the fire. Lets' kindle a match and put the glass on it. Let's see.

What's happen? You should to try it :)

    "Oil in the water"

    1. First we colored the water. Then pour a little bit oil to it.

    2. We watched what is happening.

    3. Then we pour a lttle bit dish soap.

    4. And we was watching too.

    "Sinking or not sinking"

This week we also tried to see, who is sinking and who not sinking in the water. After experiment we put things on the sheet of paper with two parts "Sinking", "Not sinking". We were counting, how many things were sinking and how many not.

We also tried mixing water with oil and food colouring :) Our students had a lot of fun observing how the bubbles travel in the glass.

    WALKING WATER EXPERIMENT

First, we asked our students to choose their favourite colour and mix it with water (we used watercolours to do that). We put glasses in a row - one with water, one empty, one with water and so on. We joined them with a napkin ''bridge'' and we waited ... After few hours the water ''walked'' from full to empty glasses at the same time mixing colours and creating new ones.

    ICE ANIMALS

We asked our students what would happen to water if we left it outside during the night ( temperature right now in Turkey is -8 degrees). Most of them said thet it would turn into ice. We decided it to test it, to make it more attractive for our students we also froze their favourite animals.

Next day we brought the huge block of ice with frozen animals to the classroom and asked the students what would be the best way to make the animals free and melt the ice. We provided  them with  salt, soda, sugar (dyied red) and hot water. We let each student to choose one ingredient to melt the ice, boys chose salt and girls (red) sugar. After 3 hours we checked what happened.

Salt appeared to be the best to help our animals to get out from the ice :) For the ice that we couldnt melt we used toy tools like hammer and had a lot of fun. In the end we used hot water to detroy the ice completely. We saved all our animals !
