    GAMES WITH WIND

LITHUANIA (Šiaulių lopšelis-darželis "Coliukė", pedagogė Laura Bajoriūnė)

This time about our kindergarden traditions. Since 2007 every autumn we have the celebration in kindergarten yard. Pupils and the parents brings to the kindergarten fruits, vegetables, chesnuts, acorns, berries, flowers, leaves and we all from those things do pictures on the ground. It can be mandalas, the heroes from animation films, basketball balls (actualy, Lithuania is the basketball land) and the other pictures.

This week we prepared an experiment mixing different things: we mixed colours, vinegar and baking soda :) The first part of our experiment we held in the classroom creating abstract pictures.

You need: box with baking powder and cups with vinegar ( we gave it different colours simply by using water colour paints)

We learnt that soda and vinegar together create carbon dioxide gas, that made bubbles in our picture. Then we started to wonder what would happen if we trapped this gas in a plastic bag. The second part of our experiment we took outside.

You need: vinegar, baking soda, paper, plastic bags.

We filled bags with vinegar and we add some baking soda in a piece of paper to make the reaction slower. And we waited ....... The bags grew bigger and bigger, some of them even exploded :) We had a loooooot of fun.
