Open Mind & Happy Heart

Over thirty years of research supports the use of mindfulness, which include improvements in attention, sleep, emotional regulation, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and ADHD.  Recent brain imaging research (Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University) shows that mindfulness practice positively alters the structures of the brain associated with learning, memory, empathy, and stress. The aim of this project is an action-research focused on the exploration and the development of mindfulness activities and practices in order to enable children - right from primary school – to learn to know the functioning of the mind and to counteract negative emotions and thoughts, improve their relationships, their attention and their performances and develop self-esteem. Through various activities and a daily mindfulness practice, the children learn to counteract negative emotions and thoughts and develop happiness and wellbeing. The shared work among European partners will be an opportunity for active collaboration and debate between students and teachers.
