7. PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Welcome to Vilnius – a crossroads between East and West since the Middle Ages! We hope that, apart from discussions on eTwinning and gamification, you will find some time to discover the unique Old Town of our city, a Northern pearl of Baroque.

    Accommodation and transportation

    The seminar venue is at Hotel Crowne Plaza Vilnius (M. K. Čiurlionio Street 84, Vilnius, Lithuania), http://www.cpvilnius.com. Located 2 kilometres from the centre of Vilnius’ Old Town, near the city’s biggest Vingis Park. Easily accessible by taxi from Vilnius Airport (6 km) as well as Vilnius Coach Station (3 km).

    You can request a taxi at Tourism Information Center located near the exit from airport or use the city taxi http://www.vilnius-airport.lt/en/planning-a-trip/how-to-reach/taxi/

    By public transport:
    Take bus No. 3G (5 stops) or No. 88 (8 stops) to the stop “Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio” and then take a walk along M. K. Čiurlionio street (about 13 min.).

    From the train/ bus station:

    Most convenient way to reach the hotel from train/bus station is by taxi.

    By public transport:
    Take bus No. 2G to the stop “Sparta” (1 stop) and then take bus No. 3G (2 stops) to the stop “Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio”. Take a walk along M. K. Čiurlionio street (about 13 min.).

    Take trolleybus No. 16 to the stop “Sparta” (2 stops) and then take trolleybus No. 17 (2 stops) to the stop “Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio”. Take a walk along M. K. Čiurlionio street (about 13 min.).

    If you arrive early, you could enjoy a walk to the Old Town.     Social programme

    The social programme includes two dinners at the Hotel Crowne Plaza Vilnius restaurant (8th  and 9th June 2016), a guided tour (by coach) around the Vilnius Old Town (10th June 2016) and a Gala Dinner at The Old Green House restaurant,  L.Stuokos-Gucevičiaus street 5, Vilnius (10th June 2016). Alcohol is not included.

    Currency and payments

    The currency in Lithuania is the euro. ATMs can be found nearby, and credit/debit cards are widely accepted.

     

    Weather

    The average daytime temperature in Lithuania in June is a comfortable 16°C, with the lows around 11°C and 20°C, respectively. There are 12 hours of daylight. The weather is unstable and changes often all year round. Rainfall is fairly frequent all year round, but there are more rainy days on the coast than inland.  Take an umbrella or raincoat with you.     Smoking is prohibited at workplaces and indoor public/private spaces in Lithuania.
