Our project aims to create an awareness and understanding in students and teachers that ourcultural similarities far outweigh our cultural differences.The differences in society are repeatedlynegatively emphasized in events, the news and social media. Research shows that knowledge ofpeoples and cultures increases one's tolerance. According to UNESCO "Education should aim atcountering influences that lead to fear and exclusion of others, and should help young people developcapacities for independent judgement, critical thinking and ethical reasoning. The diversity of ourworld's many religions, languages, cultures and ethnicities is not a pretext for conflict but is atreasure that enriches us all." They state that fighting intolerance requires education, access toinformation and individual awareness.Our main motivation is to educate to our students to help them access, evaluate and assimilateinformation so that individual awareness will follow.
