Life of a Tree

  • As part of our European Challengers to Save Climate project, students worked on a long-term activity ”Life of a TREE” since last October – they watched a tree of their choice for the whole year, took pictures of it every month and observed the changes their tree was going through.

You may be wondering why the tree got so much of our attention.. our answer is very simple!

The significance of trees is important to people in several ways. In addition to making our towns and cities and their parks look more beautiful, they improve the atmosphere by producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide, while acting as a filter to bind dust, oxides of sulfur and nitrogen, carbon monoxide and other pollutants in the air. By balancing temperature extremes, trees mitigate heat, regulate temperature and humidity, improve climate, reduce noise and wind, improve soil conditions, hold moisture and, last but not least, increase biodiversity.

Their importance is truly undeniable, and as many studies have confirmed, people living surrounded by trees are subjectively happier, more mentally resilient than people from homes without any green areas.

Therefore, do not hesitate and see the outcomes of this task through the eyes of some of our students, Andrea Livorová, Ema Kršjaková and Matej Grega. They put their ❤ into it!
