    OUR CITY: ALBACETE

Albacete is the capital of the province of Albacete and is settled up in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula in the smaller historic region of La Mancha de Montearagón. With a population of 172,426 (2016) it is the largest city in the region, Castilla-La Mancha. Nowadays, Albacete is a modern capital with large areas for pedestrians and green areas such as “Abelardo Sánchez” or “Fiesta del árbol” parks.

Further its flat area and the elimination of architectural barriers have also led it to be one of the most accessible cities across the country, with better quality of life and one of the safest. Most of the sights of Albacete are inside the center ring like the Archaeological Museum, the Cutlery Museum, “Pasaje de Lodares”, the Cathedral, the Theatre Circus or “Posada del Rosario”. Marqués de Molins and Tesifonte Gallego are the most emblematic streets where are located remarkable modernist places. The commercial, financial and economic world flows through them.

Albacete is a commercial and industrial city par excellence. The aviation industry is one of the main economic engines and it is also home to major multinationals. In addition, knife and clasp knife craftworks are present thanks to the craftsmen who have been able to keep up its legacy and turn it into the current and future industry. From the point of view of education and research highlights the University of Castilla - La Mancha, the Botanical Garden and the Science and Technology Park.

The city has many festivals and traditions, among which we would highlight the Fair, declared International Tourist Interest, which is held from September 7 to 17 in honor of the Virgin of Los Llanos, as well as numerous events of regional, national and international character like the International Circus Festival, the International Film Festival Abycine, the Biennial of Art City of Albacete, among many others, and even trade fairs and exhibitions on Expovicaman. The entertainment is one of the hallmarks of the capital. with large areas of party. Other of its attractions are the traditional “Tascas” or the tipical outdoor market of “Los Invasores”.
