The Hippocrene Prize for Education in Europe is a competition offered to schools that rewards the best European partnership projects developed by a class and their teachers. This award was launched in 2010 at the initiative of the Hippocrene Foundation, which decides that Europe must be built from school. Six awards are awarded each year to fund proposed projects. Le mot de la directrice de la Fondation Hippocrène :

“Je note plusieurs originalités dans ce projet. D’abord, il a été élaboré dans un lycée militaire, c’est-à-dire un internat où les élèves sont là tout le temps. Ce ne sont pas des élèves forcément destinés à devenir militaires mais plutôt des enfants de militaires ou issus de classes populaires. Ensuite, le projet est autour des mathématiques, ce qui est assez peu courant dans les échanges alors que ça s’y prête plutôt bien puisque tout le monde parle cette langue. Le projet a été mené en partenariat avec un établissement espagnol. L’idée, c’est que chacun présente sa ville d’un point de vue mathématique, la modélise à travers des figures géométriques ou des chiffres permettant d’en comprendre la structure urbaine, démographique ou économique”.
