The importance of being a scientist

The feeling of uncertainty about the future, determined by recent events concerning both climatic variations and the pandemic due to the Sars-CoV2 virus, has also exacerbated the scientific disinformation, producing alarmism, fake news, conspiracy or denial theses. Furthermore, the ordinary citizen struggles to understand how it is not possible for science to give immediate answers to new problems or to quickly apply technological solutions deriving from scientific research. For these reasons we propose a project that will bring the figure of the scientist in a very bright light, first the researcher, in history and in current events. The project is aimed at making people understand what kind of person hides behind this profession and experimenting firsthand the modalities of the scientific method, evaluating and processing data, understanding the importance of the reproducibility of an experiment and the value of falsification or confirmation of a hypothesis.
