KICK-OFF MEETING 16 DEC 2020 - ASSIGNMENT

  •

    Assignment

    How?

    • You will work in international groups with at least two representatives of each school (you have received the group composition). There are 8 groups in total.
    • For working together as an international group you will need to go to the group channel of your group in Teams. One of the Dutch group members starts a meeting in this group channel and the other group members can then join the meeting.
    • As representatives of your school in your international group, you will interview the representatives of the other three schools in two rounds of interviews of about 30 minutes each:
      • Round 1: Interviews about the schools
      • Round 2: Interviews about the towns and countries
    • In each round each school will have 7-8 minutes to answer questions about the subject (their school (round 1) or their town and country (round 2). The other three schools ask their questions. So, for instance, Germany answers the questions asked by Scotland, Italy and The Netherlands for 7-8 minutes, then Scotland will answer questions asked by Germany, Italy and The Netherlands for 7-8 minutes, etc.

    What?

    • We ask you, as representatives of one school in one of the international groups, to interview the representatives of the three other schools on the following subjects:
      • Their school
      • Their town
      • Their country
    • In these interviews you can ask for facts, but these can often be found on the internet or in other easily available sources. Therefore try to also think of other aspects, such as for instance (taking the school as an example): what do the pupils feel are the best and the worst aspects of their school, what do they feel about what the school offers outside the regular teaching programme, how would they describe the atmosphere in their school (between teachers and pupils and among pupils) , how did the school deal with the corona situation and how do they feel about that, what do they think about life with all the corona restrictions, … . The idea is to get a better and broader understanding about the situation and background of the other pupils. In that light you can of course make your own questions (you don’t have to use examples given).
    • You need to make sure that you take notes, because you will need to do the following:
      • At the end of the two interview rounds the representatives of each school in each group write a brief document with their (most important) findings regarding the other schools, towns and countries. This document will be uploaded in Twinspace, under Materials in the folder “Interviews”.
    • At the of today’s meeting you will fill out a short survey in which you can say what liked about the online meeting (the Tops), what you think worked less well for you (the Tips) and ewhat suggestions/ideas you have for a next online meeting.
    • Each school will prepare and give one presentation on what they found out about the other three schools, towns and countries during the interviews. This will not be done on December 16th. The presentations will be given on December 20th (during the second online meeting) and the preparation will be done between December 16 th and January 20th. The presentation needs be 5-10 minutes long (not longer than that!). You can make your own decision about the format of this presentation.
