The World Heritage is a region or area considered by the scientific community of unparalleled and fundamental importance for humanity. It can be a single monument or building, or the architectural set delimited in a city, village or region, or the whole area, can be a single cave, or valley, or the entire region due to its historical, archaeological, natural, environmental value, or a set of these factors and comes to be recognized by UNESCO. In its various manifestations, from our historical monuments and museums to traditional practices and contemporary art forms, culture enriches our daily lives in countless ways. Heritage is a source of identity and cohesion for communities affected by disconcerting change and economic instability. Both heritage and creativity form the foundation of a vibrant, innovative and prosperous knowledge society. UNESCO believes that development cannot be sustainable without a strong cultural component.
