The basic idea of this project is to use digital storytelling to empower pupils to be confident communicators and creators of media as they gain essential 21st-century literacy skills and reach deeper understanding in all areas of the curriculum. This technique is a combination of the old storytelling traditions and new technologies. Pupils conduct the art of telling stories by use of a variety of digital multimedia, such as images, audio, and video. Digital Storytelling also supports the collaboration and teamwork process. In a collaborative environment, pupils are actively engaged in the exchange of ideas and are responsible for reaching their own academic goals as well as helping others in their group to succeed. During the process of developing a digital story, pupils also build planning, organizational, and time management skills.
