About Our Project And Work Process

  •     Our project is a cultural exchange project about introducing cities to eachother like a torurist guide or reporter between 12 countries and 30 partners basically on encouraging students to speak English and improving the other language skills. Pupils will introduce and give information about cities they live in English like a tourist guide or a reporter by organizing short trips around the cities. Also they'll introduce the local food and cultural aspects of the cities.

        The Aims Of The Project:

    1-Encouraging students to speak English
    2-Improving listening, reading, writing skills and vocabulary in English.
    3-Providing students to have information about new places and cultures.
    4-Giving students opportunity to Introduce places where they live and their cultures.

    Work Process:

    1st activity-October-November

    Creating facebook group for a better communication and collaboration.

    Recording students to the twinspace.

    Preparing a project poster.(You can use the tool "poster my wall")

    Describing general information of cities such as geographical location, population, height from sea, climate etc. 


         First of all, discuss on this activity with your pupils. While working on the activity with your pupils, please take photos.Make sentences that give general info about your cities with your pupils. They work on these sentences for a while. When they are ready, you can make video in which students say these sentences. You can use web 2.0 tools such as movie maker, fanta show, animoto, magisto, vivavideo etc. Also, you can use the tool "popplet" to make a mind map for general information about your cities.For example, some of your pupils can speak in front of a map of your country. They can show the locations of your cities in the map while speaking.Another example: You can take a short video at the entrance of your city with your pupils in which they say altogether "Welcome to our marvellous city ........"


    2nd activity-November-December

    -Describing tourist attractions such as historical places, landmarks and natural beauties (lake, river, plateau etc.) 

    This activity is going to last till January.

    For this activity you can do the followings:

    1- Arrange a meeting with your pupils, list the places you and your pupils visit in your cities together and make a trip plan. 
    2 - During the trips encourage your pupils to speak English.Specify the sentences together before the trips. Thé sentences should give info about the places.For example: We are going to visit the castle of Giresun. One of my pupils can say "Here is the Castle of Giresun. It was built by a Ponthus King in the 14th century." Another pupil can say "now let's walk in the castle" and "there is a wonderful view from here". 
    3-Please use simple sentences so that all the pupils of the other partners can understand them.
    4- Take videos and photos during the trips. You can use web tools such as movie maker, animoto, fantashow etc.

    3-January

    Describing cuisine (famous local food).

            We'll introduce our local food to each other. First of all you can arrange a meeting with your pupils to discuss which local food will be introduced.Then you can organize a "LOCAL FOOD DAY" . Each pupil can bring a local food to the classroom. They can say the name of the food and talk about the ingredients of them. We can take photos and videos. You can use web 2.0. tools such as movie maker, animoto, fantashow etc. to arrange a video and pizap, photo editor etc. to arrange the photos. Also you can use the tool "popplet" to make a mind map for introducing the local food.

    4-February

    1-Introducing cultural aspects such as folk dance, traditional clothes and songs etc. 

    2-Sending eachother small presents which reflect our cities and a letter which is written by pupils together.

                   The things we must do:

    1-Introducing cultural aspects such as folk dance, traditional clothes and songs etc. You can use web 2.0. tools such as movie maker, animoto, fantashow etc. to arrange a video and pizap, photo editor etc. to arrange the photos. Also you can use the tool "popplet" to make a mind map for introducing the cultral aspects.

    2-Sending eachother small presents which reflect our cities and a letter which is written by pupils together.

          -The presents can be  symbols of your cities such as magnets, key chains, small statues, postcards (if you want, your pupils can prepare the postcards by using the tool "pizap"), brochures, booklets, flags and anything you want to send.

          -Also we'll send a letter with the presents. In the letters our pupils will write about the feelings of them about our project and mention about the presents. At the end pupils will sign the letters.

          -For this activity 7 groups with four partners were created and each group member will send the presents to the other partners in their groups.

    5-March
    1-Creating a Project board at school, hanging etwinning label of our project, maps and photos of participating countries and cities, information about cities, the photos of the activities the other partners share , qr codes of videos of the previous activities etc. For the project boards every partner will prepare popplets of their sharings and hang all the popplets on the boards.

    2-Organizing an exhibition of the gifts we have sent eachother.

    During this activity please don't forget to take lots of photos and then make a video. You can use some web 2.0. tools for making a video such as animoto, magisto, wevideo, fantashow, movie maker . We can create "qr" codes for the videos of the previous activities and hang them on the board.

    6-April-May
    Creating e-brochures of cities and then putting them togethe in a Project magazine / book. 

    7-May-June

    Creating a website of the project.

    Evaluation of the project.


    In every activity photos and videos will be taken. Students will be so active, they will be like a tourist guide, they will introduce the cities by speaking English. Also, all of them will watch all the sharings of the other partners. Usernames and passwords from twinspace will be created for students.
